Crimes Drop by Nearly 42% as Region 3 Shifts to MECQ


Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – PRO3 Regional Director RHODEL O SERMONIA said that from the start of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in March 17 up to May 15, 2020, Central Luzon has recorded 5,344 crimes which was cut down by 41.32% or 3,763 decreased in recorded crimes compared to the same period of last year which is 9,107 crimes.

“This only goes to show that amidst the enormous tasks being performed by our men on the ground, we continue to level- up our anti-criminality measures particularly on our anti-drug campaign along with the continuous strengthening of our police community relations. There is indeed a relationship between the involvement of the community and crime reduction. Through our relentless community policing, there has been a notable crime reduction,” PBGEN SERMONIA also said.

“We continue to intensify the conduct of operations against all forms of criminality even in this time of crisis, and we will have no let-up thru our enhanced focused police operations,” he further stated.

From March 17 to May 15, 2020, a total of 1,338 persons where arrested for illegal drugs, 2.09 kgs of shabu and 2.04 kgs of Marijuana were seized while 1,715 were apprehended for illegal gambling with Php 420,141.00 cash bets confiscated along with the arrest of 27 most wanted persons and 320 wanted persons regionwide.
