GEN SERMONIA ORDERS ALL PNP UNITS IN CENTRAL LUZON TO CONDUCT CHECKPOINTS



Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga -- Philippine National Police Region 3 Director, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL RHODEL O SERMONIA on Wednesday directed all police commanders in Central Luzon to initiate the conduct of checkpoints and Oplan “Sita” as gun ban commences today relative to the security coverage the PNP has put in motion for the SEA Games 2019.

Sermonia also directed police units in Region 3 to intensify manhunt operations against dangerous fugitives with standing warrant of arrests and conduct proactive servicing of search warrants in order to deprive criminals with the opportunity to threaten public safety and prevent the transport of illegal firearms and deadly weapons.

Likewise, Sermonia ordered police commanders to coordinate with local government units for the mobilization of force multipliers and barangay peacekeepers in order to augment the capabilities of territorial units in terms of manpower and mobility of forces.

Starting midnight of November 20, the PNP initiated the gun ban in Central Luzon, Southern Tagalog Region, National Capital Region, and some areas in Ilocos Region as part of the efforts of the government to prevent the occurrence of crimes in places where the SEA GAMES will be conducted.

Sermonia appealed to the residents of the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Zambales for cooperation during the conduct of checkpoints and to be more understanding for the inconvenience that these crime prevention initiatives will cause them as these efforts are being carried out to guard their own safety and security against criminals and terrorists groups alike.
