Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga--- PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN RHODEL O SERMONIA said relentless operations of the PNP have resulted in the arrest of the Top 12 Most Wanted person on Friday night.
PBGEN SERMONIA said joint operatives of Capas Municipal Police Station and Regional Intelligence Unit 3 armed with Warrants of Arrest proceeded at Sitio Field Office, Brgy. O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac and arrested Mario VALERIO y Ponce, 54 yrs. old, male, married, a resident of Brgy. Sta. Monica, Concepcion, Tarlac by virtue of Alias Warrant of Arrest for violation of Art. 267 RPC (Kidnapping For Ransom) issued and signed by Hon. Ofelia Tuazon Pinto, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court, 3rd Judicial Region, Branch 60, Angeles City dated January 25, 2003 and docketed under Criminal Case Number 02-827 with No Bail recommended and for Theft in relation of PD 433 issued and signed by Hon. Nelsonida T. Ulat-Marrero, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 10, La Trinidad, Benguet dated October 3, 1993 and docketed under Criminal Case Number 98-CR-3160.
Prior to said operation, a coordination with the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group was made by operating team for the possible arrest of VALERIO.
VALERIO who is currently listed as Top 12 National Level-Most Wanted Person with a bounty of Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 500,000.00) for his arrest went into hiding for almost two decades and has been using a different name, Ruben BASA y Galdones.
Arrested suspect admitted that he managed to work in other countries even though he has standing warrants of arrest with the use of said identity.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN SERMONIA also said, "this operation is part of our intensified campaign against wanted persons which is in line with the PNP Letter of Instruction Manhunt-Charlie by the Chief, PNP, POLICE GENERAL ARCHIE GAMBOA. This also goes to show that Region 3 is no safe haven for criminals and that the entire Central police cops are working 24/7 to keep our communities safe from all persons being sought by law."
